SIMS and the Australian Museum

SIMS is a regular contributor to science outreach activities, such as the expansive Biodiversity in the City event organised in August 2010 by the Australian Museum.

The program encouraged the community to explore the biodiversity of their city by following an urban science trail and interacting with various science specialists along the path. SIMS researchers were stationed at Darling Harbour over the two Sundays of the event and the community welcomed the opportunity to delve into the world of marine science research.  The live sharks, albeit, baby versions were a particular highlight, as was the, at times retiring octopus.

SIMS is keen to engage with organisations such as the Australian Museum in reaching out to the public about the wonders of marine science.
